Imaging Lunch: nD Image Visualisation with Open-Source Tools
Our in-house experts Mallory Wittwer and Edward Andò will give a workshop on nD Image Visualisation with Open-Source Tools during our next imaging lunch. Open to all EPFL PhD students and Postdocs!
Starting from the relatively easy case of a greyscale 2D image and going all the way to a multichannel 3D image evolving in time, we will discuss and illustrate image visualisation.
Audience: Scientists, engineers, PhD and masters students. No programming or mathematical knowledge is required.
The important topic of visualisation will be covered in two main sections:
Concepts in image visualisation:
- Lookup tables and Colormaps
- Transparency and overlays
- Glyphs: Points, objects, flowlines and vector fields
- 3D→2D projections for volume inspection
- Volume rendering
Software packages for visualisation with examples:
- Matlplotlib and Fiji
- Paraview and tomoPy
- Pyvista
- Napari
- Neuroglancer
Feel free to come with your data for which you have visualisation questions!
About the Imaging Lunches: Once per month, the EPFL Center for Imaging organises an event dedicated to all PhD students and postdocs working with/in imaging. Discuss the latest advances in imaging. Connect with imaging peers. Learn about popular imaging tools!
